Zappit Help
UNINSTALLING ZAPPIT -
You can uninstall by either 1) Go to your Start Menu, Click
Programs, and you will see Zappit on the list. Click the Zappit folder and
choose "Uninstall Zappit", or 2) Go to Start Menu, Control Panel, Add/Remove
Programs. Find Zappit in the list, choose Uninstall.
MODES
Pick a Cleaning Mode: Zappit is very
easy to use for beginners to advanced. We recommend that beginners use the
Safe Mode as it will clean most junk files with the click of a button.
Advanced mode offers a number of options which are user configurable. All
options checked by default can safely be removed.
-
SAFE MODE: In this mode, Zappit will delete only "safe to
remove" files, folders and settings. An automatic backup of your
registry is created each time you run Zappit.
-
ADVANCED MODE: You can choose the items you wish to
cleanup. An automatic backup of your registry is created each time you
run Zappit. Using this mode you have access to a full range of cleanup
options. Advanced Mode allows you to remove a wider range of files,
folders and settings than Safe Mode. Use Caution! Zappit is a powerful
cleanup tool. Files, Folders and Registry items removed with Zappit
cannot be recovered. Click here for
explanation of cleaning options for Advanced.
TOOLBOX
SCHEDULE WIZARD: Set up a schedule to perform system cleanup automatically
at a pre-determined time and using predetermined settings. The
Schedule
Wizard will walk you through each step so click Configure in the first
window in Schedule Wizard to set it up to your liking.
-
Schedule Options - You can schedule to activate in
Safe Mode or in Advanced Mode, and you have a choice to run the program
hidden (in the background).
-
Setup Task Triggers - This window allows you to
set up the exact time you want the program to run automatically, and how
often.
-
Account Information - Your current user account
name (for windows) should appear here for you.
If it says "Owner" do not
change it. If you are the only user on your computer and your account is
not password protected, it will say Owner. Do no change the user account
name if one appears. If you use a password to login to Windows,
enter it in this screen; otherwise, if you do not have your account
password protected, leave the "Enter the password" and "Confirm
password" fields blank.
STARTUP MANAGER: Startup Manager makes it easy for you to take control of
many of the programs that automatically start when you start windows or
reboot your computer. There are two types of autostart submenu in Start Menu
- 1) Start menu and 2) Startup keys in the Windows Registry. Startup
Manager will guide you through the process for this feature.
-
Manage AutoStarts - Two tabs will be available in
this screen, 1) Start Menu Autostarts and 2) Registry Autostarts. You
should browse separately for "current user" and "all users"; buttons are
listed for "current user" and "all users". We cannot give advice
on what you want to have start with windows, as it depends on your
individual system settings and choices, but we do want you to know that
your anti-virus and firewall should always startup with Windows! If you
are not sure of something, you may want to leave it or investigate it
further.
FAVORITES MANAGER: With the Favorites/Start Menu Manager you can sort your
Favorites and Windows Start Menu entries alphabetically.
-
Sort Favorites - Option to do automatically sort
alphabetically, or to organize manually.
-
Sort Windows Start Menu alphabetically - This
option sorts the entire Start Menu (this is the menu you see when you
click "Start" in the lower left of your monitor). It even sorts the
sub-folders that are listed in Start Menu making Zappit very unique in
its features!
PROGRAM OPTIONS:
-
Language - currently available in English only
-
Create System Restore Point before processing cleanup -
this is checked by default. We recommend you keep this feature enabled.
-
Lock HOSTS file before cleanup process - Hosts file is a
feature in windows that supposedly makes pages load faster, however this
is also a file that is abused by spyware/malware/trojans by changing
real urls to direct to malware and spyware sites. This file is locked
for your protection.
-
Show Navigation Pane -Allows you to navigate teh main
interface of the program.
-
Show
tip of the Day - This is checked by default. You can uncheck it if
you do not want tip of the day to show and you can re-enable this at a
later date.
-
Show Status
Bar - This is the wording that appears at the bottom of the program
to show what section you are using.
-
