Mode Cleaning Options
When choosing selections from Advanced Mode,
some will provide additional options, for example Recycle Bins.

Windows Tracks
Click the + sign next to Windows Tracks to see a
list of the following options:
RECYCLE BINS - Recycle Bins
contain files you have deleted from your computer. These files
are not permanently removed until you empty them. Recycle
Bins on all drives will be cleaned by default. You can choose
which you want emptied by clicking the options box beside this
selection. Once you have emptied your recycle bin, you cannot
recover the data so be sure do not want the files you deleted.

CLIPBOARD DATA - Clears the
contents of all types of data contained in the windows
clipboard. For example, if you right click to copy something, it
will be in your clipboard.
SYSTEM TEMP FOLDER - Deletes all of the files
stored in your computer's default temporary folder as defined by
your system. Temp files can always safely be removed.
WINDOWS DIRECTORY TEMP FOLDER - Deletes all of
the files stored in the temporary folders located in the Windows
root folder. This might be the same as the system temporary
folder in Win98/Me. Temp files can always safely be removed.
RECENT DOCUMENTS LIST - Deletes the windows
stored list of files that you recently opened. You see this list
of files when you click Start and then click on Documents.
Deleting this list does not delete the documents and can safely
be removed with no loss of data.
SEARCH HISTORY - Deletes the windows stored
list of files or other information you have recently searched
for on your computer.. It does not delete any saved files or
pages you have saved; it can safely be removed with no loss of
data.
COMMON DIALOG HISTORY - Deletes the windows
history of the file dialog showing opens and saves (Open/Save
Dialog). Every time you open a program or close a program
windows keeps a record of this activity. Every time you
open a document or close a document Windows keeps a record of
this too. It does not delete the actual files or documents you
opened. To clarify, it just "erases" the history of your
computer usage. You can safely delete this history with no loss
of data.
RUN HISTORY - Deletes the windows stored list
of commands that you recently entered into the Run window. (Run
is located in Start, Run). You must restart your computer
after processing this task to completely clear the Run history.
WALLPAPER HISTORY - Deletes the windows
stored list of wallpaper you have recently used. It does not
remove any of your wallpaper selections so no images are
actually deleted; just the list of what you used last.
DIRECT 3D RECENT APPLICATIONS - Removes
references to and list of most recently run applications
using
Windows Direct 3D
DIRECT DRAW RECENT APPLICATIONS - Removes
references to and list of recently run applications using
Windows Direct Draw.
JUNK FILES -
Configurable
Options To remove temporary and other Junk Files from your
computer. Zappit features
powerful
customization tools that allow you to add folders or file
extensions to Zappit's Cleanup Routine. This feature is
available in Advanced Mode only.
Internet Tracks
- MS Internet Explorer
Click the + sign next to MS Internet Explorer to see
a list of the following options:
TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES - Whenever you
browse the Web your browser downloads files such as images, html
documents, flash files, Java applets, sounds, etc. to a
directory or directories on your computer. Actually, in most
cases, when you view a Web page you are viewing it from your own
hard drive and not the Web at all. Even after a short browsing
session these files can accumulate. Zappit cleans Temporary
Internet Files from your computer without any further
intervention from the user when this box is checked.
ADDRESS BAR HISTORY - This is the list of
recently visited URLS that appear in your browser's address bar
drop-down list. Zappit clears this list when this box is check.
HISTORY - This is the "History" of all the Web
sites you have visited for the past "X" days (depending on your
settings). You can see this list by clicking on the History
button on Internet Explorer's toolbar. When the "History" box is
checked in Zappit, Zappit will clear your Internet Explorer's
"History".
COOKIES - Cookies are small text files that
are placed on your hard drive by Web sites and advertisers on
Web sites you visit. Sometimes cookies can be used to track you
movements from page to page on a particular Web site or across
Web sites owned by the same company or groups of companies.
Sometimes, however, cookies are used to save your own
preferences on sites you visit, such as your location (for
weather and news information, etc.), page colors, font styles,
and other preferences you select, and, therefore, can be useful.
Zappit gives you
the option to "save" cookies that you want to keep, such as
preference cookies. Zappit's Cookies Dialog allows you to check
the box next cookies that you do not want Zappit to remove.
Cookies that are not selected by the user are removed by Zappit.

OFFLINE WEB PAGES - When this box is checked,
Zappit will clean the folder where Internet Explorer saves Web
sites you have selected for Offline Viewing.
DOWNLOADED PROGRAM FILES - When this item is
selected, Zappit clears the folder where Internet Explorer
stores downloaded program files and file information.
DOWNLOAD FOLDER MEMORY - When this item is
checked, Zappit clears the folder where Internet Explorer stores
the file paths of files downloaded while using Internet
Explorer.
RESET START PAGE - When this item is checked,
Zappit will reset your Internet Explorer Start Page to a blank
page. This item is unchecked by default. It is only
recommended you check this box if you want Zappit to reset your
start page to a blank page each time you run it.
- Mozilla Firefox
Click the + sign next to Mozilla Firefox to see a list of
the following options:
HISTORY - When this item is
selected, Zappit will clear the list of sites you have visited
using Mozilla Firefox.
TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES - When checked,
Zappit will remove temporary Internet files from Mozilla Firefox
cache.
COOKIES - Selecting this item removes all
cookies stored in the Mozilla Firefox cache.
SAVED PASSWORDS AND LOGIN NAMES - When this
item is selected, Zappit will remove all stored passwords and
username combinations that allow you to login to sites
automatically when using Mozilla Firefox.
WARNING - This
item is selected by default. If you depend on Firefox to login
automatically to sites requiring usernames and passwords please
uncheck this box. Otherwise, Zappit will remove all stored
passwords and usernames from Mozilla's Password Manager.
Program
FilesThis option allows you to remove
potentially sensitive information and files created by popular
applications. Click the + sign next to this item to see a list
of applications. This list will vary depending on programs you
have installed.
MS WORDPAD - Deletes the windows
stored list of file you recently loaded or accessed in MS
WordPad. No documents are deleted; just the list of recently
opened or accessed documents.
WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER - Deletes the windows stored list of files
you recently opened using Windows Media Player. You see this
list on File Menu of Media Player. No actual media files are
removed; just the last accessed listing that windows stores.
Custom
TasksClick on the + sign next to Custom
Tasks and then click on Empty Custom Folders to see the dialog
for this option.
EMPTY CUSTOM FOLDERS - Allows you
to select folders which you want Zappit to clear during Zappit's
Cleanup Routine. Click here to see details and additional instructions for
